In a bid to increase its membership and drive more consumers to locally owned businesses, Think Local First is putting power in people’s hands. The Greater Victoria organization, which has 195 member businesses, uses the Think Local First app to guide local residents and tourists to the region’s hidden gems and popular stores.
Since the release of the app, which is underwritten by Vancity Credit Union, Think Local First has promoted the app through user contests and events, such as “Think Local Week” which Think Local First hosts annually.
The Think Local First App meets consumers where they are - on their smartphones. In an era of giant online retailers and big box stores, the Think Local First app helps local businesses drive customers back through their doors.
“I live in the land of 30-year-olds; and they live on their phones,” said Paul Hadfield, owner of Spinnakers Brewpub and president of Think Local First. “The 468 Insider platform helped us connect with both residents and travelling public in a way that supports local business.”
